Town of Erin Appoints New CAO

Date: Feb 20, 2024

The Town of Erin is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Rob Adams, effective March 11, 2024.

“Rob is a really great balance of experience and vision and we believe he has the ability to take our Town forward in a meaningful way. As our new CAO, we look forward to working with Rob to position Erin as the green gem on the shoulder of the GTA. Rob’s vision includes holding onto our rural roots while moving Erin forward along a sustainable path that will manage planned growth, evolve our local economy and support existing residents,” said Mayor Michael Dehn.

After an extensive search for an experienced leader, Town Council believes that Adams will be a great fit for Erin. Adams has served locally as both a multi-term mayor and councillor in Orangeville, as well as four terms as Warden of Dufferin County. Adams is an experienced CAO, having successfully led two large municipalities (Grey Highlands and Whitchurch-Stouffville) during growth and infrastructure challenges.

The Town and council would like to thank Fire Chief Jim Sawkins for his service and commitment to the Town of Erin while taking on the role of Interim CAO during the executive search.

“Chief Sawkins’ leadership, positive attitude and dedication to Town staff and the community, during this transition period has been greatly appreciated,” said Mayor Dehn.

Adams is a passionate and visionary leader who uses innovation and inspirational thinking to leverage success, with staff and with the community he serves. He is a proven business leader in the IT software sector, and most recently held the role of head instructor for the Association of Municipal Clerks and Treasurers Ontario (AMCTO).

Adams is also an instructor with York University Schulich ExecEd and OMAA (Ontario Municipal Administrators Association) and the CAO Leadership Program.

Adams leads with a desire to empower, listen and engage, and his experience as a proven municipal leader will allow him to balance the demands of growth with Erin’s deep desire to retain its rural character and unique charm, added the mayor.

Erin’s new CAO will start on March 11, 2024.
