A malfunctioning sediment control bag used in the construction of Erin’s ongoing water and wastewater project resulted in a discharge of sediment on Water Street and into the adjacent Credit River Tuesday evening.
Used to control sediment and protect storm sewers, nearby properties, and waterways during construction, sediment control bags remove silt and other debris from construction projects before it’s discharged in a nearby waterway. The Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) was notified of the small release of sediment and water that poses no threat to the environment.
The bag, similar to the one pictured here, has been replaced and no further action is required.
