A Message from Mayor Alls - November 27, 2020

Date: Nov 27, 2020

Dear Neighbour,

2020 has been a trying year for all of us. We have gone without seeing our family and friends for an extended period, many have faced financial hardships and we have all be forced to this "new normal". Through all these changes, I have been witness to how outstanding our community is, and watched as you came together to support your neighbours in need, all while keeping Erin safe. I cannot express how proud I am to be Mayor of this wonderful Town. Your efforts re-emphasize the true meaning of a strong community and I commend each of you.

That being said, we cannot stop now. We must remain vigilant as COVID-19 cases continue to increase and the risk to residents remain high. We're seeing cases linked to private family gatherings, play dates and at local workplaces. COVID is circulating throughout our region and beyond. Now more than ever, we need to follow the advice from health care practitioners and maintain physical distancing, wash your hands frequently, limit close contact to only those you live with and wear a mask or face covering when you are out.

With the holiday season quickly approaching, many of us will be faced with not being able to celebrate our typical family traditions. Although connecting virtually or over the phone is not the same, it will still provide you with the opportunity to celebrate with your loved ones. Try to take this time to slow down from a difficult year and connect with those in your household. Remember, this time of year could be difficult for many people, so please stay active or try new hobbies that boost your spirits and keep you healthy, both mentally and physically. Our community is full of supporting hands, reach out to a neighbour in need and call a friend that may be alone.

While we are keeping safe, let's keep in mind our local businesses, who are the heart and soul of the community. If you are able to, please try to order from one of our local restaurants. We are lucky to live in a community that is full of so many amazing businesses, I encourage you to shop local as you shop for Christmas this year.

We are all in this together and together we need to do what is necessary to "stop the spread to stay out of red."

I am proud of our community and have every faith that we will continue to step up to keep Erin healthy and safe.

Regards,

Allan Alls, Mayor
