In line with the Provincial requirement, the Town of Erin has an Integrity Commissioner, who is an independent accountability officer given authority under the Ontario Municipal Act, 2001 including Ontario Regulation 55/18 Codes of Conduct and the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act, 1990. The Integrity Commissioner ensures that the conduct of the members of the Town of Erin Council, complies with the terms of the Municipal Act, 2001 and Ontario Regulation 55/18.

Complaints to Integrity Commissioner

Requests may be made to the Integrity Commissioner by Council, a member of Council or a member of the public about whether a member of Council has contravened the Code of Conduct.

Complaint Investigation:

The Integrity Commissioner will have the power to determine whether a member of Council has in fact violated a Town protocol, a by-law or policy governing their ethical behaviour and to recommend a penalty as prescribed by the Municipal Act, except that Council shall make the final decision on whether any penalty recommended is imposed on the member found in contravention.
