Erin increases Community Grants to $30,000

Date: Apr 29, 2024

The Town of Erin is increasing the amount of money available to community groups in 2025 to $30,000 after a motion brought forward by Councillor Jamie Cheyne passed at the April 25 regular council meeting.

The Town recently distributed $20,500 to 19 local non-profit, charitable or youth groups with up to $3,000 in funding annually to support service to the community.

However, starting in 2025 the Town will offer a total of $30,000 to community groups under its financial assistance grant policy.

Councillor Cheyne said the increase is needed in light of Erin’s growth in a time of inflation.

“There are more groups every year seeking assistance. With rising prices, we are getting more requests, and as we grow we have to keep pace,” said Councillor Cheyne.

In 2024, $20,500 in grant money was awarded, however the Town received 21 applications totaling $42,650 in funding requests.

2024 Grant Recipients include:

  • Rotary Club of Erin
  • Erin Seed Library
  • Erin Pride
  • Erin Garden Clubs
