Dog Licenses

All canine control, dog kennels and incidents with dogs come under the jurisdiction of Town of Erin Dog Control By-Law #15-57.

The OSPCA Orangeville & District Branch are appointed as By-law Officers to enforce matters under By-law 15-57.

There is no limit as to how many dogs you may own in the Town, but they must all be tagged. They must not be running at large or barking continuously so as to bother other residents.

Dog Licences may be purchased at the Town Office.  You may also request dog tags by mail.  Please ensure you enclose a cheque for the correct amount and a self-addressed stamped envelope so that we may return your tags to you.  Dog Tag Mail In Form

The OSPCA defines an emergency as a sick or injured animal you have found, that does not belong to you.

 

Boarding or Breeding for sale

If you are boarding or breeding dogs for sale, then you must have the proper zoning on your property and operate under an annually renewable kennel license. If the property does not have the proper zoning, a zoning amendment must be applied for.

Kennel Fees:

If purchased up to and including March 31st, each year: $150.00
If purchased after March 31st, each year: $200.00


Dog Tags

As set out in the Provincial Offences Act - Part 1, the fines for failure to license your dog, failing to affix the dog tag, or affixing the dog tag onto the incorrect dog, and more are $125.00 fine per violation.

Untagged dogs that are picked up are taken to the pound where there will be a charge to retrieve your pet (re: By-Law #15-57). Don't let your best friend end up here!

Fees

If purchased up to and including March 31st, each year: $ 20.00 each
If purchased after March 31st, each year: $ 30.00 each
