The following are required when submitting for a building permit:

  • Heating/Ventilation layout
Additions/Renovations
  • Site plan showing all setbacks, buildings, septic and well location
  • Floor plan of proposed construction and existing floor plan
  • Floor/Roof Framing plans
  • Foundation plan
  • Cross section (wall section as needed)
  • Septic Design/Review (as applicable)
  • Elevation of all views
Attached Garage
  • Site plan to show all setbacks, buildings, septic and well location
  • Floor/Roof Framing plans
  • Foundation plan
  • Cross section (wall section as needed)
  • Elevation views
Accessory Buildings over 10 sq.m. (108 sq. ft.)
  • Site plan showing all setbacks, buildings, septic and well location

Decks
  • Site plan to show all setbacks, buildings, septic and well location

Pool Fences

The Building Department will provide applicants with a copy of the Pool Fence By-Law #09-14 which details all requirements relating to above ground and in-ground pools and hot tubs:

  • Site plan showing all setbacks, septic location
  • If property is within a Plan of Subdivision, an amended & approved grading plan may be required
  • Details of fence construction
Barns
  • Site plan showing all setbacks, buildings and nearest neighbouring residence(s)
  • Floor/Roof Framing plans
  • Foundation plan
  • Cross section (wall section as needed)
  • Elevation all views
  • Nutrient Management Strategy (or Plan) Approval from OMAFRA (if applicable)
  • Minimum Distance Separation (MDS) calculations (if applicable)
Additional Notes
  • Note:  If roof or floor trusses are used, a truss design must be stamped by a Professional Engineer
  • A floating slab greater than 592 sq.ft. requires a design stamped by a Professional Engineer
  • BCIN STAMP ON DRAWINGS WHEN APPLICABLE AND SCHEDULE 1 TO BE COMPLETED
