The Treasury Department is responsible for the coordination and management of the financial affairs of the municipality in accordance with the applicable municipal by-laws and provincial legislation.

The 2011 Tax Rate (by-law) has been set.  Please scroll to the last page of this by-law for the tax rate chart in Schedule A.

Annual taxes are calculated using the assessed value of your property times the applicable tax rate as set each year. 

The assessment of your property is used to calculate your annual taxes.  MPAC (Municipal Property Assessment Corporation) sets the assessment of property.  To contact MPAC:

The 2011 Tax Information Pamphlet provides Town information as well as information regarding your taxes.  The 2011 Tax Information Pamphlet is included in the second tax bill mailing coming out each summer.

NOTICE TO RESIDENTS......

The first two residential tax installments are due March 31st and May 31st, 2011.  Your second two tax installments are due August 31st and October 31st - with that tax bill being mailed early to mid July.

Please advise us of your correct mailing address including your Post Office Box # if you have one.  Important mail is being returned to the Town.

Also, please make sure you address Town mail to:

Town of Erin, 5684 Trafalgar Rd., R. R. # 2, Hillsburgh ON N0B 1Z0 so our mail isn't delayed reaching us for due dates etc.

Tax relief programs

 
The County and its member municipalities provide tax relief programmes for low-income seniors and low-income persons with disabilities. In addition, there is a tax rebate program for charities and other similar organizations which either own or lease space in a commercial or industrial property.
