McMillan Park at 109 Main St. Erin

McMillan Park is the name of our wonderful new park at 109 Main Street in the Village of Erin.  This name was chosen out of the 120 names that were suggested.  It was chosen due to the name's historical significance to the Village of Erin.

In the 1800's Canada's machinery was driven by water power.  Between 1828 and 1849, Daniel McMillan and his younger brothers, Charles and Hugh, seized their opportunity to produce water power from the waterway in the Village of Erin, expanding upon the existing mill at that time.  The brothers constructed three dams, three lengthy millraces and seven mills which included saw mills, flour mills and woolen mills.  The establishment of these mills resulted in the new community of McMillan's Mills (renamed Erin after 1852).

There is a Public Parking Lot to the rear of this park.

Hillsburgh’s Historical Park - 105 Trafalgar Rd.

Centrally located in the "downtown area" (Trafalgar Rd.) of Hillsburgh is the Hillsburgh Historical Park. Once the site of a General Store, the lot sat vacant for many years until the Town generously developed the small park with the assistance of the  Hillsburgh & District Lions Club, the Hillsburgh Garden Club and many volunteers, this lot was converted to its current setting with benches for relaxing, and includes a beautiful Barn Beam Structure and beautiful gardens. In 2005, Take this Town and Sell It gave the park some finishing touches, including one of its main features, an Outdoor Stage for concerts and local community events.

The park is used for outdoor church services, the annual Christmas Tree Lighting plus much more.
