Town of Erin - COVID-19 Business Update
March was a month full of change, challenge, and uncertainty. The Town of Erin is continuing to closely monitor the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation and adapting, while ensuring the safety of residents, businesses and staff remain a top priority.

The Economic Development division will continue to offer support and provide businesses with up to date information and service excellence.

There have been a couple of changes at the Town office since the last Business Connections newsletter which you may not be aware of.

Due to the ongoing threat of COVID-19, the Town of Erin has made the decision to extend the closure of all municipal facilities till May 31. During the extended closure, the Town will continue to offer essential municipal services, and ensure the needs of the community are continuing to be met.

  • Economic Development staff will continue to be available to assist businesses through email or via telephone only.
  • Please call 519.855.4407 ext 241 or email [email protected] for any inquiry.
  • Taxes and Water payments can be paid through financial institutions, by sending an e-transfer to [email protected] or by calling 519.855.4407 EXT. 226.
  • Additionally, there is a secure 24/7 drop-box , located at Town Hall.
County of Wellington - $1 million Funding announcement

Emergency Business Sustainability Fund

Wellington County will be providing $1 million dollars in low interest loans to help local County businesses get through the financial challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Business Centre Guelph Wellington- FREE Business Advice
In these uncertain times many small business owners are looking to speak to someone who can give guidance and up to date information on what is available to help them.

The Business Centre Guelph Wellington is continuing to offer small business free 1 hour consultations to anyone needing to talk to an advisor about their specific business issue.

For a one on one consultation click "More Information" which will take you directly to the Business Centre website and click on the BOOK NOW tab where you will be able to pick a date/time that works best for you. An advisor will reach out to you to arrange type of meeting i.e. zoom, skype of by phone if need be.

Workforce Planning Board
Let us know the impact of COVID-19 on your job

The Workforce Planning Board of Waterloo Wellington Dufferin is conducting a survey to learn how COVID-19 has impacted people’s jobs in our region. We want to hear from a variety of perspectives and would like to invite you to share your experience. This survey is open now to April 9th, 2020

We are looking for everyone to respond - those who are self-employed, those still working, those laid-off and those who have stepped back from job searching at this time. If you are employer, we encourage you to share this with your staff so that we can gain perspective from all workforce members. Please share this link across our communities.

WSIB's Financial Relief Package
WSIB’s financial relief package allows businesses to defer premium reporting and payments until August 31, 2020. Businesses who report and pay monthly, quarterly or annually based on their insurable earnings are eligible for this deferral.

Community Improvement Plan - Intake extended
The Town of Erin will be extending the March 31 Community Improvement Plan deadline until further notice. Please continue to submit your applications to [email protected] and staff will work on connecting with you and your business.
A Community Improvement Plan is an Economic Development tool that allows a municipality to implement certain initiatives, such as providing grants and loans to businesses and landowners with the intent to improve, restore, redevelop, and rehabilitate public and private (non-residential) properties.
