The County of Wellington looks after all Solid Waste Services within the Town of Erin. 
They are responsible for garbage and recycling pick up in the urban areas as well as the operation of the local transfer station where residents can bring their garbage and recycling.
The Hillsburgh Transfer Station is located at 5830 Eighth Line just north of Wellington Rd. 22 and it is open on Tuesdays,Thursdays and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. until April 30th, 2009.
Household waste is accepted at a charge of $1.00 per regular sized garbage bag or at the discretion of the attendant.
The Transfer Station will be closing May 1st, 2010 with bi-weekly rural garbage pickup beginning. Garbage must be put out by 7 am on the pickup day and must be in "yellow" County garbage bags - Rural @ $2.75 per bag. Large items will be directed to the Belwood Transfer Station.

The Belwood site is located at 8585 Wellington Road 19 in the Township of Centre Wellington, just west of Wellington Rd. 26 - turn left at the stop sign at the top of Belwood village.
Town of Erin residents can take their waste to any of the County sites. For location and hours of operation please contact contact the County of Wellington at (519) 837-2601 Ext. 220 or toll free at 1-800-663-0750. (if you are experiencing difficulty, please hit "0" and an operator will assist you).
Garbage and recycling pick up in our URBAN areas is on Thursdays. Please have your garbage and recycling at the curb by 7:00 a.m. In order for garbage to be picked up it must be placed in the yellow County of Wellington garbage bags. These garbage bags are available for sale at local grocery stores for $17.50 for 10 large bags and $10.00 for 10 small bags.

limit of two per household. Please make sure to put your address on your blue boxes so that they can find their way home after a windy day. If you are not in a pick-up area, you can take your recyclables to the Transfer Station.
Private contractors can be hired to pick up rural garbage.
