Due to the ever-increasing demands for services and because of the addition of trained staff this division was split into two main areas during 2002. One area focuses on public education while the other deals with plans review, inspections and fire cause determination as we are mandated to under the FPPA.

Some areas of focus again this year are our Home Safe Home Program where we go door to door in urban areas during the summer months to offer a Fire Safety Survey of residential homes. Inspections are on request and as well as our regular inspection program continues where are primarily focused on multi-residential occupancies and assembly occupancies to make sure they are compliant.
Public Education is a large part of the
Fire Prevention Program. By using the Fire and Life Safety

Training Trailer, our public education officers are able to provide life and fire safety education to our school students and visitors at the many public functions such as Erin Fall Fair where the trailer visits.
Inside the trailer visitors can experience the dangers of a household fire, a potential tornado and watch informative vidoes. The public education officers are informative and knowledgable and can answer questions regarding fire safety.
School groups of students often visit the two Fire Stations within the Town to get a "at the station" education.
Commercial and Residential Fire Inspections are conducted by the Town of Erin Chief Fire Prevention Officer on an appointment basis. To make arrangements for inspections, please contact Shelley at the Fire & Emergency Services Office at 519-855-4407 Ext. 254.
Fees for inspections are due prior to the completion of the inspection.
We are now able to complete routine commercial inspections to the requirements of the Fire Code.
