Canine Control

All canine control and dog kennels come under the jurisdiction of Town of Erin By-Law #08-08. Town of Erin Vicious Dog By-Law #02-11 deals with incidents involving biting dogs. To obtain a copy of either of these By-Laws, please contact the Town of Erin or download a copy from the Document Centre.

There is no limit as to how many dogs you may own in the Town, but they must all be tagged. They must not be running at large or barking continuously so as to bother other residents. For barking dog related complaints, please contact the By-law officer.  For dogs running at large please contact the Upper Credit Humane Society Officer at (519) 943-5288.

If you are boarding or breeding for sale, then you must have the proper zoning on your property and operate under an annually renewable kennel license. If the property does not have the proper zoning, a zoning amendment must be applied for. Please contact the Town's Planner Sally Stull to assist you with this process at 519-855-4407 ext. 240.
