Welcome to the Town of
Erin
We are located about 80 kilometres northwest of Toronto, in the
province of
Ontario ,
. There are approximately 11,000 people in Erin, and we are primarily a rural municipality. Farming is still an important economic activity, but most of our population works in the nearby cities of Brampton, Mississauga, Guelph, or even Toronto. The headwaters of two major rivers, the Credit and the Grand, rise in our municipality, and we are blessed with rolling hills, forested valleys, and a beautiful countryside.
The Town is composed of the villages of Erin and Hillsburgh, and the hamlets of Ballinafad, Brisbane,
Cedar
Valley , Crewson’s Corners, and Orton, all of which was the former Township of
Erin, until amalgamation in 1998. If you happen to be traveling through our town, and you don’t want to be marked as a foreigner, pronounce it “Earin”, not “Airin”.
Our industrial area is filling up quickly, and our main street shopping has become a major destination for people from the city. We now boast a community radio station CHES, 88.1 on the FM dial. At the moment, their broadcast range is limited to the Town, but they are also available on the Internet.
Recreation is an important component of a healthy lifestyle, and our “Centre 2000” includes an arena, a theatre, library, tennis courts and space for community support programmes in conjunction with a high school. At Barbour Field we have 7 soccer fields to support the more than 800 young soccer players in our community and also 2 well-used baseball diamonds.
Welcome to our town, a friendly place, where all can feel at home.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOWN OF ERIN 1998 - 2008
Town of Erin - 10 years old! We held a birthday party to celebrate this occasion on Saturday June 30th, 2008.
Birthday wishes from our Mayor!
My, but you're groing up quickly! How many times did you hear that when you were a child and family friends from far away would drop in?.JPG)
Well, the Town of Erin is in that position now, and it is amazing even to those of us who live here how much has changed, while still presereving that small-town feeling that is so important to us.
Look at Centre 2000, a joint Town, County and School Board project that provides care for seniors, for our children, a threatre for the communty, a nursery school, as well as a first-rate high school, an arena, tennis courts, and so much more.
On the outskirts of Hillsburgh we have built Barbour Field, which has expanded from an excellent set of ball diamonds to include a set of soccer fields, equivalent to or better than most found in many larger communities.
At the heart of these and the other succes stories is a vibrant community, dedicated to working together to make life better for all of us.
When all the rowers are pulling in the same direction, the speed at which our small boat can move puts others to shame.
Welcome to the Town's celebration of our first ten years, and let's make the next ten even more inspiring.
