The Town of Erin celebrated it's 10th Birthday in 2008....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOWN OF ERIN 1998 - 2008

Town of Erin - 10 years old!  We held a birthday party to celebrate this occasion on Saturday June 30th, 2008.

We would like to share the birthday wishes from our (former) Mayor Rod Finnie.....

My, but you're groing up quickly!  How many times did you hear that when you were a child and family friends from far away would drop in?

Well, the Town of Erin is in that position now, and it is amazing even to those of us who live here how much has changed, while still presereving that small-town feeling that is so important to us.

Look at Centre 2000, a joint Town, County and School Board project that provides care for seniors, for our children, a threatre for the communty, a nursery school, as well as a first-rate high school, an arena, tennis courts, and so much more.

On the outskirts of Hillsburgh we have built Barbour Field, which has expanded from an excellent set of ball diamonds to include a set of soccer fields, equivalent to or better than most found in many larger communities.

Mayor Finnie (Mayor at that time) participated in the face painting as well as many of the other fun celebratory activities.

At the heart of these and the other success stories is a vibrant community, dedicated to working together to make life better for all of us.

When all the rowers are pulling in the same direction, the speed at which our small boat can move puts others to shame.

Welcome to the Town's celebration of our first ten years, and let's make the next ten even more inspiring.

Village of Erin

The Village of Erin was originally named McMillan's Mills after Daniel McMillan who purchased the first sawmill in 1829 at age eighteen and built the first village house.

Hear and see the past again in the unique shops of the Village of Erin where doors creak and slam and old glass distorts the window displays. Behind the windows you find antiques, treasures by local artists and artisans, irresistible baking, fascinating reading, a house-full of decorating ideas and accessories, and places to dine or take tea. All this to be discovered along Erin's historic Main Street. Experience the Charm!

Through the year, residents enjoy many Erin BIA events.  From the Festival of Quilts in March/April, to Summer Celebration in May, Erin Fest in August and Window Wonderland and Tree Lighting in November, merchants of Main Street in Erin Village who make up the BIA (Business Improvement Area), devote themselves to a year-long series of events to entice and entertain visitors and residents.

The BIA strive to promote the Village of Erin.  Shopping local makes sense - we can keep our Town vibrant by supporting each other.  Drop by any of the stores or shops in our commuities in the Town of Erin - here you'll find knowledgeable people who are here to help you and to make your shopping experience fun and rewarding.  Shop smart - shop local!  Shop outside the box!  The Village of Erin continues to thrive with a combination of unique stores; specialty shops, antiques, gourmet food, home decor, garden accessories, all in a charming rural setting.

Village of Hillsburgh

Located on the Elora Cataract Trailway, Hillsburgh offers a charming village experience with many conveniences. Discover fine custom furniture, stop for afternoon tea or enjoy excellent local theatre at the "Century Church".

Hillsburgh also boasts a Community Centre with complete arena, dressing room and banquet hall facilities as well as a professional theatre.

The Let's Get Hillsburgh Growing Committee (LGHG) is a community group consisting of interested citizens and representatives from Hillsburgh's businesses and community groups.  Formed in 2005, the LGHG Committee's purpose is to maintain and improve on the beautification and revitalization of "Main Street (now Trafalgar Rd) Hillsburgh" initiated by the taping of the television program "Take This Town and Sell It!"  Every year, LGHG is responsible for the hanging baskets and planters that adorn our downtown area and along Trafalgar Rd. through the village during the summer.  As well, the committee maintains and replaces, as necessary, the brightly coloured banners that hang on the poles above the planters.  In the winter, the LGHG replaces the hanging baskets with Christmas wreaths.  These projects are all achieved through the financial support of the community and a small grant from the Town of Erin.  Partnering with the Hillsburgh Lions Club, the LGHG volunteers prouding organize Spirit of the Hills Day, Hillsburgh's Family Fun Day.  Held annually on the third Satuday of August, this event is a chance to celebrate this wonderful community we live in.  Events include a classic car show, face painting, kids' games, local bands performing in the park plus much more.  It's a fun day for the whole family!

The hamlets of Ballinafad, Crewson's Corners, Ospringe, Cedar Valley and Orton are residential communities, each with their own personalities. All are ideal places to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

The area is rich in many different equine principles, from Thoroughbreds, Standardbreds, Draft, English, Western, Pleasure, to Minis, we have lots to offer the equine community.
